Legislative Watch Dogs Needed

September 2007

The GSCA is looking for State Legislative Watch Dogs. The recent attempt at extremely restrictive legislation in California has shown us that we need more people willing to help in this important area. Anyone willing to help keep an eye on local/state legislative actions should send your name and contact information to me. Watch dogs will need to keep an eye on upcoming/pending local ordinances and state legislation that restrict the rights of dog owners. They will be helpful in mobilizing local support to write to officials via e-mail, fax or postal mail to express opposition to proposed legislation and support positive legislation (such as additional enforcement actions regarding dog fighting). In some circumstances, the local contact will help mobilize others to visit hearings at the city/county or state level.

It would be great if we could get one watch dog in every state to keep vigilant.

Thanks so much for your help.
